What are some significant key facts that you learnt about as a result of your research?
  • If the sea level rose by 4m the whole gulf of Mexico will be flooded.
  • Some cities that are below sea level are Qattara Depression, Dead sea Depression,Denakil Depression-Afar Depression, Lake Assal- Afar Depression, Karagiye Depression, Akdzhakaya Depresson, Turfan Depression, Death Valley, Salton Trough and Sam Julian Great Depression.
  • 70% of the worlds fresh water is from Antarctica.
  • 5000 years ago the sea level was rising over 50cm per century.

What are the problems/ consequence for our world if nothing is done about your chosen issue? How is the sustainability of our planet being affected by this issue
  • Lots of cities and islands/countries will be underwater.
  • Animal species will be threatened or extinct because their habitat will be lost.

What is currently being done to address your issue?

  • Some countries are signing the Kyoto Protocol(Which means that country has committed to reduce their greenhouse gases emissions which means the earth won't heat up as much).
